Know which customers deserve your next move.
More sales don’t automatically mean better customers. Ledger helps you understand customer value, repeat buying and category opportunities, so your next marketing decision has more behind it than a hunch.
Built for established businesses selling physical products to shoppers, trade customers or other businesses.
Plenty of sales data. Still too many unanswered questions.
Your sales report tells you what sold. It may not tell you which customers are worth retaining, who is quietly buying less or where your next useful offer should go.
Maybe you’re seeing:
Good turnover, without a clear view of customer margin.
The same promotion going to people with very different buying habits.
Customers who buy once and disappear from view.
Trade accounts buying less, with no clear explanation.
POS and online reports that tell different stories.
Sometimes the answer is better advertising. Sometimes it’s better follow-up. Sometimes the data needs fixing first. We work out what the evidence can support before recommending the next step.
Ledger works across the areas that most directly affect revenue, margin and customer value.
Each service can solve a specific problem, but they work best as one connected commercial system.
Different buyers. Different questions.
Retail and eCommerce
Understand which shoppers return, what they buy next and how discounts or returns affect customer value. Build more useful groups than “everyone on the mailing list”.
Trade
Put account activity in context. Separate a normal gap between projects from a pattern worth investigating, and identify relevant category conversations.
Commercial & distribution
Look beyond account turnover. Explore buying frequency, category mix and the costs your data can support, so the team can investigate the right accounts.
Selling to a mix?
We agree how shoppers, contacts and buying accounts should be represented before combining them. One company with several contacts is not automatically several customers.
experience bit
Turn customer history into a clearer decision.
-
Understand what data exists, where it comes from and which limitations matter.
-
Explore customer value, repeat buying, category gaps and discount dependence within the agreed scope.
-
For implementation projects, agree customer or account rules that your team can understand and use.
-
Explain what the findings suggest, what they do not prove and what would be worth testing next.
Start with the data. Then decide how far to go.
The Data Review and Snapshot is a paid, standalone first engagement.
We review agreed exports or samples and explore up to three commercial questions within a limited scope.
You receive:
A review of whether the data can support the questions.
A limited commercial snapshot and written findings.
An Excel findings workbook and opportunity list.
A 60-minute discussion of the findings and next steps.
The review does not include live database clean up or a full Customer Intelligence implementation.
If the data is not usable, we explain the limitations and the work needed before reliable analysis is possible.
A clear first step. No mystery project.
01 / Talk through the question
Tell us about the business, the decision and the systems involved. No customer exports needed for this conversation.
02/ Agree the review
We confirm the data, commercial questions, fee, access method and timing.
04 / Choose what happens next
That might be a larger analysis project, better data foundations, a campaign brief or no further work. The next stage is your decision.
03 / Review the findings.
We explain what is reliable, what remains uncertain and which actions are worth considering.
A good fit starts with a useful question
Ledger is best suited to established product businesses with customer-linked sales history and an owner or team member who can explain the business behind the numbers.
A typical starting point is one brand, one online store and one shared POS. Larger store networks, additional platforms and complex account structures need individual assessment.
Ideally, you can provide 36 months of history. Twelve months may still be useful, with limitations. We also need someone to approve product categories, explain available cost information and check assumptions.
What do you wish your customer data could tell you?
No obligation. Just clear, actionable insights into your ad spend efficiency.
Customer intelligence questions, answered
-
No. The starting point is the decision you need to make. A dashboard may be useful in a later scope, but the review is about suitability, findings and practical next steps.
-
We can analyse the costs your data can support.
Product gross profit is different from contribution after freight, fees and servicing costs.
We agree definitions and label estimates so a rough allocation doesn’t masquerade as an exact answer.
-
Historical customer value and predicted future value are different. We state the timeframe and coverage.
Future estimates need sufficient evidence and an agreed method; they are not guaranteed revenue.
-
Only with a credible estimate of the customer’s total relevant spending.
Your own sales history alone generally supports category penetration, not a complete view of what they spend elsewhere.
-
Possibly, but guessing won’t help. The paid review identifies what can be used and what needs remediation.
It does not include unlimited cleanup or a promise that every question will be answerable.
-
Ledger can separately scope Campaign Management.
Analysis and segmentation establish who to consider and why; campaign production and delivery are separate work.
-
We first assess what the existing systems can support.
Replatforming and new software implementation are outside the Customer Intelligence scope.
-
After scope and authority are agreed, we arrange an approved secure exchange method and document access and handling requirements.
